The draft LSPS generated considerable community feedback when it was publicly exhibited during June-August this year. The report considered by Council last Tuesday night provided a detailed summary of feedback received, noting that overall feedback was positive with support expressed for the vision, planning priorities and actions outlined.
Last Tuesday one of our planners attended a resilient cities conference. The conference featured talks from Beck Dawson, Chief Resilience Officer of 100 Resilient Cities and Rod Simpson, Environment Commissioner of the Greater Sydney Commission.
Last Thursday, urban planners from councils across Sydney attended a workshop run jointly by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment and the Greater Sydney Commission on preparing local strategic planning statements, to help implement the new Greater Sydney Region Plan, A Metropolis of Three Cities, and district plans.
How will metropolitan and district strategic plans be implemented at the local level? This is a question currently being addressed by local councils, the Greater Sydney Commission and the NSW Department of Planning and Environment through a series of working group meetings across Sydney over the next few months.
The Greater Sydney Commission has released the finalised Greater Sydney Region Plan and North District Plan.
Yesterday Mosman Council hosted a visit by representatives of the Greater Sydney Commission. Sarah Hill (CEO), Deborah Dearing (North District Commissioner), Greg Woodhams (Executive Director) and Sylvia Smith (Director) met with Council’s General Manager and planners. The purpose of the visit was to hear from the Commission about their plans for implementing the North District Plan and to provide the Commission the opportunity to see firsthand some of the planning issues in Mosman.
The Greater Sydney Commission has now also released revised draft district plans for each of the five districts within the Greater Sydney Region (revised down from six in the earlier drafts exhibited in late 2016) for public comment until 15 December 2017, including the Revised Draft North District Plan applicable to Mosman, along with the local government areas of Hornsby, Hunter’s Hill, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, Northern Beaches, North Sydney, Ryde and Willoughby.
