The Mosman Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) has been made by Council under section 3.9(1) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act), following receipt of a letter of support from the Greater Sydney Commission.
On 4 March 2020 the Commission wrote to Council to advise that:
“We confirm the Commission supports Mosman Council’s draft Local Strategic Planning Statement (March 2020) as being consistent with the Greater Sydney Region Plan and North District Plan (under section 3.9(3A) of the EP&A Act).”
The Mosman LSPS sets out the Council’s 20-year vision for land use planning in Mosman, outlining how growth and change will be managed to maintain the high levels of environmental amenity, liveability and landscape quality that characterises the area. Within the statement Council identifies 16 Planning Priorities to achieve its vision relating to infrastructure and collaboration, liveability, productivity and sustainability.
Community consultation on the LSPS undertaken during June-August last year generated considerable feedback, with 652 written submissions received and 80 people attending a public meeting. This feedback informed a number of amendments to the statement, subsequently adopted at the Council Meeting held on 3 December 2019.
Following receipt of the Commission’s letter, Council’s General Manager exercised the delegation granted to him by Council on 3 December 2019 to make the Mosman LSPS. The statement was subsequently uploaded to the NSW Planning Portal as required under the EP&A Act.
The Mosman LSPS can be viewed on Council’s website.
