How do you picture Spit Junction in the future? A tired looking shopping town with small coffee shops and boutique shops or a centre associated with business, shopping and dining comprising of new mixed use development, community facilities and services and a centralised social hub unique to any other local centre in Sydney?

The Spit Junction Masterplan is a 12 month project which will require extensive input from the community to help design and plan the future Spit Junction, and it is through community engagement that we will achieve this goal.

It does not matter whether you are a resident, visitor to the area, business owner or employee, we see this as your lifetime opportunity to help us create the centre for Spit Junction which will function and operate into the next century!

THE PEOPLE’S JUNCTION – HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED?

StraightTalk in consultation with Council has prepared an Engagement Plan for the Spit Junction Masterplan and Feasibility Study for the Mosman Civic Centre site. The consultation plan has been prepared for Phase One and Two of the project:

  • Phase One: Scoping the Urban Framework (Late January 2012 to March 2012)
  • Phase Two: Masterplan and Options Engagement (Mid April – October 2012)

The plan proposes a range of fun and exciting initiatives (basic to interactive) to help attract and engage members of the community young to old or people who have an interest in the area depending on whether they are a business owner, resident or visitor to area.

Currently, JBA planning and Choi Ropiha Fighera architects are undertaking Phase One of the project by scoping the urban framework and realisation of the Mosman Civic Centre site and services provided to the community.

As part of Phase One consultation the following initiatives have been proposed and will commence on Monday 30 January 2012.
