Exemptions for Minor Works to Heritage Properties

Heritage properties and properties in heritage conservation areas often require maintenance and repairs. Typically consent for works to such properties requires a development application (DA) to be lodged with Council. However, an exemption may be issued if the works being carried out minor and would not adversely affect the significance of the heritage item or conservation area. This means a development application may not be required for approval of the works.

Mosman Heritage Fund – 20th Anniversary

Established in 1998, Mosman Heritage Fund is celebrating its 20th year. Over the last two decades it has funded works including roof restoration, brick tuck pointing, fencing replacement and facade restoration, including the above example of a property located on Spencer Road within the Holt Estate Heritage Conservation Area that has been transformed by the reinstatement of the open front verandah. The matching verandah posts and timber framed windows contribute to an enhanced streetscape in the conservation area. Small reinstatement projects like this are just the sort of works Council would like to contribute towards.
