The Urban Planning team

The Urban Planning team is a group of five strategic planners working to ensure the amenity of Mosman is maintained and enhanced through the development of planning controls and guidelines.

The team is part of the Environment and Planning Department of Mosman Council.

The team has been involved in preparing a new comprehensive local environmental plan between 2006 and 2011 which has been challenging and at time frustrating and has dominated work over these years.

A number of projects have been completed including the preparation of a conservation management plan for Boronia, the Mosman Design Awards held every two years, installation of interpretive signage at Sirius Cove as part of the Artists’ Walk, heritage management program including small grants to heritage property owners and development of planning websites and other communication tools.

The Planning team has received awards for the last two years (2009 and 2010) from the Planning Institute of Australia (NSW) for outstanding work on the Mosman Design Awards and consultation for the draft Mosman LEP.
