Community braves the rain to have a say on local parks

Feb 28, 2020 Other

The Urban Planning Team pushed through the rain on Saturday to hold community drop in sessions at Reid Park and Sirius Cove reserve. The sessions were well attended by members of the public who braved the elements to get involved. Issues discussed were varied including off-leash dog walking, kayak and dinghy storage, vegetation management, new ideas for park furniture and much more.

Council is in the early stages of preparing a Plan of Management to manage open space at Reid Park, Sirius Cove Reserve, Harnett Park and Curraghbeena Park. The Plan will outline objectives for the land, and guide the future use and management of the land.

Area to be included in the Plan of Management

The community is invited to have their say by commenting on what they like about the reserves, if there are any issues that need to be addressed for the reserves and if they have any new ideas they would like Council to consider implementing.

Consultation is open until 28 February 2020, after which Council will consider the feedback received to inform the drafting of the Plan of Management. The draft Plan will be reported to Council later in 2020, and if adopted, will be publically exhibited so the community can provide feedback.
