Council endorses draft Local Strategic Planning Statement

Council has endorsed the final draft Mosman Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) at its meeting held last Tuesday 3 December 2019.

The draft LSPS generated considerable community feedback when it was publicly exhibited during June-August this year. The report considered by Council last Tuesday night provided a detailed summary of feedback received, noting that overall feedback was positive with support expressed for the vision, planning priorities and actions outlined.

What happens next?

Council has written to the Greater Sydney Commission to seek their support for the draft Mosman LSPS being consistent with the Greater Sydney Region Plan and North District Plan, pursuant to section 3.9(3A) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (the Act). The Commission is due to consider Council’s submission at an Assurance Panel scheduled for 19 December 2019.

Following the Assurance Panel, the Commission has advised that it is intended a ‘letter of support’ will be issued to Council. The letter may also include conditions for support.

Council’s General Manager has been granted delegation to make the Mosman LSPS under section 3.9(1) of the Act following receipt of a letter of support from the Commission.

The LSPS must be made by Council before 31 March 2020.
