The Greater Sydney Commission is seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) from members of the community who wish to work with the Commission as part of a Citizens’ Panel to develop measures for tracking progress of the Greater Sydney Region Plan, A Metropolis of Three Cities.
In March 2018 the Greater Sydney Commission released the final version of the Greater Sydney Region Plan after two years of collaboration with stakeholders. The Plan is built on a vision of three cities – the Western Parkland City, the Central River City and the Eastern Harbour City – where most residents live within 30 minutes of their jobs, education and health facilities, services and great places. The Plan guides growth and change in Greater Sydney over the next 40 years, responding to a projected population of 8 million people by 2056.
To implement the Plan, a series of District Plans were released by the Commission, setting out planning priorities and actions for each district within Greater Sydney. Mosman is located within the North District, along with the municipalities of North Sydney, Northern Beaches, Lane Cove, Willoughby, Hunters Hill, Ryde, Ku-Ring-Gai and Hornsby.
The Citizens’ Panel will work alongside the Commission to provide input into how it can best track and evaluate the implementation and outcomes of the Greater Sydney Region Plan. These metrics will relate to core elements of the Plan for liveability, productivity, sustainability, infrastructure and collaboration. The Panel will consist of 100 demographically representative Sydneysiders, and be convened on two Saturdays next month in Parramatta.
