EP&A Act changes to commence 1 March 2018

The NSW Government has announced that the changes to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 – passed by Parliament in November last year – will commence on Thursday 1 March 2018.

Alison Frame, Deputy Secretary, Planning Policy, Strategy & Governance for the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, advised in a recent news update:

“While most of the changes will commence straight away, there will be a number of other changes that will involve further consultation, so new features of the planning system like community participation plans and local strategic planning statements will be introduced over time. This will ensure that all stakeholders have a proper opportunity to prepare for changes, supported by appropriate guidance, templates and other resources.”

The Department will soon issue a guide that illustrates the key changes to the Act and provides more detailed information on the commencement of the changes.

Updates will be posted on the mosmanplanning.net blog.
