Public exhibition – Archaeological sites

Council is proposing to amend Mosman Local Environmental Plan 2012 to delete the listing of three archaeological heritage items – A484, A485 and A488 – based on a heritage review of the sites. The items are a former tram terminus in Avenue Road, and former quarries in Avenue Road, and between Harnett Avenue and Royalist Road. A revised heritage listing for the former tram terminus site will be included in the LEP.

Council is also proposing to amend Mosman’s Development Control Plans to recognise the excavated walls of the former quarries through the Significant Rock Faces and Retaining Walls clause.

A Planning Proposal and other documentation outlining the proposed amendments is on public exhibition from 31 August to 28 September 2017 at the Civic Centre from 8.30am to 5pm weekdays, and on Council’s website. Submissions are invited during this period, in writing to Council.

The Minister for Planning has chosen to delegate the making of the LEP to Council.
